Coinbase said its AI-powered scam-prevention chat agent was 99% effective at preventing users from engaging with a crypto giveaway promoted by a deepfake of Elon Musk. The pitch appeared on a YouTube livestream tied to a Tesla flying-car demonstration.

The livestream showed a synthetic version of Musk and a QR code for the offer. Viewers were asked to send crypto with the promise of receiving more in return. The stream had attracted more than 500,000 viewers before the agent intervened.

Coinbase specialists Viktor Bunin and Will Megson presented the result in the demonstration. The 99% figure concerns the agent's reported effectiveness against user engagement with the giveaway. The livestream's audience figure reflects its reach before the agent intervened; it does not describe how many viewers engaged with the offer.
