VerifiedX rolled out a vault update Thursday that gives holders of Verified Bitcoin (vBTC), pegged to Bitcoin (BTC), time to recall transfers before settlement, with the delay enforced by network consensus.

The feature arrived with VerifiedX’s Mainnet 9.0.0 upgrade. Owners choose how long a transfer waits; during that window, they can recall a transfer sent by mistake or by a thief and direct the assets to a recovery address they set. Vaults also support transfers scheduled to settle on a specific date. The protections extend to VFX and other assets issued on VerifiedX.

“Digital assets have operated under the assumption that if someone successfully obtains the authority to move an asset, the security battle is essentially over,” said Jay Pollak, VerifiedX’s head of strategy.

On mainnet, VerifiedX waits for six Bitcoin confirmations before acting on anything tied to Bitcoin. Each validator uses a Bitcoin light client to check block headers, proof of work and whether a transaction appears in a block. Balances and unspent transaction outputs come directly from Bitcoin, without an oracle, third party or off-chain attestation.
