Anthropic is starting a U.S. beta rollout this week of Personal Finance in Claude for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers, allowing them to connect bank and credit card accounts through Plaid to examine transactions and ask about spending.

The tool can total activity from linked accounts and group it into categories such as housing and utilities, food and drink, and shopping. Users can ask follow-up questions to compare spending with their usual patterns or check for items they may have missed. They can also ask whether they are spending more than they earn.

Personal Finance can flag possible duplicate charges, unexpected fees and bills that have increased over time. It can explain annual percentage rate, or APR, and calculate interest paid during the previous year.

Personal Finance has read-only access and cannot move, manage or invest users’ money. Information available to the tool can include the linked bank’s name, the account’s name and type, its final four account-number digits, balances, credit limits and transaction records extending back as far as two years. Conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic’s models.
