BNB Chain said a security issue affecting the Reth client has limited impact on BSC-Reth and that opBNB does not use op-reth, as the team monitors the issue and works on a hotfix.

The flaw can cause nodes on multiple Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks, including OP Stack chains, to calculate incorrect state roots. No exploitation or fund losses had been identified as of Nov. 6.

BNB Chain said developers and users did not need to take action at that time. The team was monitoring the issue and developing a hotfix.

Blockaid warned that the Reth bug could produce incorrect state proofs; the response included patched-build guidance, and Gauntlet curtailed deposits and allocations.
