Riley Warns 1,000 STRAT-X Tokens Could Add 1 TB of XRP Ledger History Every Two Hours

The Texas realtor's projection assumes 1,000 tokens launch on the soft-staking protocol. He cited past activity involving five QFS tokens as a baseline.

Texas realtor Patrick L. Riley warned that a hypothetical rollout of 1,000 tokens on STRAT-X could add about 1 terabyte of XRP Ledger history every two hours, potentially straining servers that preserve the network’s complete transaction archive.

Riley wrote Nov. 5 that his calculations pointed to “1TB of history for every 130m transactions.” He based the larger projection on activity involving five QFS tokens, which he said had reached 1.5 million transactions per day, or about 40% of the ledger.

Built on the XRP Ledger, STRAT-X offers soft staking. It is designed to let verified projects create staking pools for token holders and distribute rewards daily. Riley’s projection depends on 1,000 tokens launching on the protocol; the cited figures do not describe activity at that scale today.

Full-history servers preserve records of past transactions, a role separate from processing new transactions. XRP Ledger validators do not need complete historical archives to reach consensus. Current balances and new transactions can continue even if historical records become unavailable.

That separation means archive problems could limit access to old transaction records without halting the network’s current operation. Historical data may be recoverable if copies remain on servers or in backups. Partial records could also help restore missing ranges, while a range lost permanently would leave the complete transaction history unavailable for that period.

The XRP Ledger lost Ledgers 1 through 32,569 early in its history and continued operating. Riley’s figures describe a possible future storage burden, not a report that the projected growth has occurred.
