Apple Says iPhone Duo Has Well Over 100,000 Optimized Apps

Apple said thousands of optimized apps are being added each day. Apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later can use the full display.

Apple announced Nov. 6 that the App Store offered well over 100,000 apps designed for iPhone Duo, roughly two weeks after the foldable went on sale Oct. 23.

The company said thousands of optimized apps were being added each day. Apple classifies apps built with the iOS 27.1 software development kit (SDK) or later as optimized for the device. Those apps can use the full display.

Apps built with the iOS 27 SDK can fill most of the inner display. Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier still run, but can appear centered with empty space around them.

Apple plans to mark optimized apps with a Made for iPhone Duo badge. Beginning in April 2027, developers submitting new apps or games must provide iPhone Duo screenshots.
