About 30 people spent nine months on the production, combining generative AI tools with human directors, writers, artists and voice actors.

Fable Studio plans to bring “Gods Don’t Give Gifts,” an animated feature made with generative AI tools and human creative staff, to U.S. theaters for a limited run beginning Dec. 4.
Fable Studio CEO Edward Saatchi said about 30 people worked on the production over nine months. Human directors, writers, artists and voice actors worked alongside the AI tools as the team developed the scripts and produced the animation.
Director Zack London, who posts online as Gossip Goblin, helmed the film. The science fiction and horror anthology is set on Niiro Cradle, where human consciousness is treated as a commodity in a transhumanist future.
Grimes voices Zayinth Alda, a lead character from the NiiroCore aristocracy. The MPA gave the film an R rating. Its trailer debuted Oct. 6 and passed 15 million views shortly afterward.
Fable Studio was co-founded by Saatchi and Pete Billington and is backed by Amazon. AGC International has expressed interest in distributing the film. Its release date was moved to December to align with awards season, and the studio plans to campaign for a Best Animated Feature Oscar.
