IBM has connected its blockchain infrastructure to Swift’s shared ledger to support tokenized deposit transactions, adding institutional payment functionality to a system designed for 24/7 digital-asset transfers and final settlement.

The new ISO 20022 message adapter allows financial institutions to issue instructions for tokenized deposits through standard payment messages. Banks participating in the Swift project have used Digital Asset Haven to test tokenized deposits.

Swift’s shared ledger supports banks issuing tokenized deposits and enables participating institutions to transfer and settle digital assets around the clock.

IBM also released a beta version of Digital Asset Haven for local deployment on IBM Z and LinuxONE systems. The setup allows customers to manage stablecoins, tokenized deposits and other digital assets without relying on a public cloud. Private keys remain in the customer’s environment and are protected by IBM Crypto Express hardware security modules.
