Binance Begins Moving Crypto to Spot Accounts Ahead of 2027 Stocks Rename
The staged migration runs through January 2027, when Funding Accounts will become Stocks Accounts for stock and stock-options settlement.
Binance began moving non-stock crypto assets from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts on Sept. 29, 2026, as the exchange separates ordinary crypto balances from accounts used for stock and stock-options settlement.
The staged migration is expected to continue through January 2027. Binance has not announced the exact January 2027 date for the rename, and it has not provided user-by-user migration dates.
At the end of the process, Funding Accounts will become Stocks Accounts and will be used for stock and stock-options trading settlement. The Stocks Account will support USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U and BNB as settlement assets.
Other crypto assets will be handled through Spot Accounts for deposits and withdrawals. Funding Accounts will no longer support on-chain deposits beginning Sept. 29, 2026.
The restructuring is intended to simplify Binance’s account structure and asset management. The account changes will not alter users’ asset balances or compromise fund security.
Assets received through Binance Card, Gift Card and Binance Pay will be credited to Spot Accounts beginning Sept. 29, 2026. Users may need to update recurring payment plans, Convert settings and API account references as the account structure changes.
Historical transaction records will retain the original Funding Account label. The availability of affected products and services may vary by region.
The transition follows Binance’s earlier plan to consolidate crypto balances in Spot Accounts while reserving the renamed Stocks Account for stock-trading settlement. Binance’s earlier account-migration announcement outlined the planned transfer and January 2027 rename.
