Verifact Markets launched a trading platform for disputed claims about past events, giving eligible users outside the United States a way to buy True or False contracts tied to questions that conventional prediction markets typically do not cover.

The Chicago-based company announced the launch Oct. 6, 2026, at 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC). Users can review arguments, submit evidence and trade contracts on political, business and cultural claims.

A correct contract returns $1 at settlement; an incorrect contract becomes worthless. Verifact says its patent-pending framework will evaluate evidence gathered by its systems, evidence submitted by users and market structure before resolving a market.

Trading consensus alone will not determine the outcome, the company says. Markets will resolve only after reaching a high level of confidence.

If a market remains inconclusive, trading activity fades and no new evidence emerges, Verifact may expire the market and settle positions using a “trusted expiration price” based on recent qualifying trades. The company has not detailed the criteria for qualifying trades or how long a market must remain inactive before expiration.

Listed topics include claims about the origins of COVID-19, Meta’s “Not Even WhatsApp” privacy campaign and the Pentagon’s dismissal of Stars and Stripes journalists. Verifact also said a private-beta market asking whether the LA Clippers used Kawhi Leonard’s endorsement deals to circumvent the NBA salary cap resolved True.

The platform combines financial incentives with evidence submission. Users can take positions while providing documentation that may affect a market’s resolution, and Verifact says it may reward credible submissions.

“We're living in the age of disputed facts. Making or amplifying a claim has never been easier. Resolving one has never been harder,” Rodrigo Aquino, CEO of Verifact Markets, said in the launch announcement. “Our company exists to change that.”

Verifact is available to eligible users in several jurisdictions outside the United States, but it has not specified which jurisdictions qualify. The company also has not disclosed user totals, trading volume, liquidity figures, an accuracy record or completed-market performance history.
