Atlassian and OpenAI are expanding their partnership to bring GPT-6 models into enterprise tools used to plan, build and deliver projects, connecting workplace data with AI-driven workflows.

The companies announced the expansion on Oct. 6, 2026. The integrations cover Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket, while Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph adds organizational context to AI-generated actions.

The agreement also expands the role of Rovo, Atlassian’s AI teammate for search, chat and task orchestration. Rovo agents will support customization with OpenAI models, giving organizations more options for tailoring automated workflows.

Other connections include the Atlassian MCP Server in ChatGPT and Codex, as well as links to Codex from AI coding tools. MCP, or Model Context Protocol, allows compatible AI applications to connect with external tools and data.

Potential applications include creating Jira issues, summarizing Confluence content and facilitating coordination across teams. The integrations are intended to turn organizational knowledge into actionable outputs within the software teams already use.

The expanded partnership builds on Atlassian’s April 2023 introduction of OpenAI technology through its Atlassian Intelligence suite. A separate ChatGPT integration lets users find and summarize permitted Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Loom content under their existing permissions.

Atlassian also released a guide on Oct. 8 describing how ChatGPT and Codex can connect with Jira and Confluence through the Atlassian MCP Server and Codex deeplinks.

The company did not disclose a timeline for additional features. The expansion extends Atlassian’s existing OpenAI integrations for Jira and Confluence workflows into a broader set of enterprise and coding tools.
