Strategy bought 334 Bitcoin (BTC) for $28.7 million from Oct. 1-4, bringing its holdings to 848,000 BTC as the company continued balancing digital-asset purchases with preferred-stock buybacks.

The purchase averaged $85,838.80 per Bitcoin and was recorded as of 4 p.m. ET (8 p.m. UTC) Oct. 4. Strategy funded $15.7 million through net proceeds from Strategy stock sales and used $13 million in U.S. dollar cash for the remainder.

The company’s 848,000 BTC cost an aggregate $63.97 billion, or an average of $75,440.70 per Bitcoin. The latest holdings and capital activity were previously detailed in Strategy’s report on its 848,000 Bitcoin reserve.

During the broader reporting period, Strategy repurchased 1,773,802 shares of its STRC preferred stock for $176.3 million. The company bought back 1,033,168 shares for $102.6 million from Sept. 28-30 and another 740,634 shares for $73.7 million from Oct. 1-4.

Strategy reported a $4.88 billion U.S. dollar reserve and $833.4 million in U.S. dollar cash as of Oct. 4. The cash could be used for future Bitcoin purchases, expansion of the dollar reserve or other capital-management purposes.

On Oct. 11, Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted a Bitcoin-tracker image with the message, “There’s always room for more orange.” The post could signal another purchase, but it did not confirm a transaction or provide an amount, price or timing. Strategy has not confirmed another acquisition.

The company also estimated a $20.91 billion gain in the value of its digital assets and a $1.88 billion deferred tax expense for the quarter ended Sept. 30. The figures were prepared by management and had not been audited or reviewed by KPMG.
