Schwab Crypto is opening deposits and withdrawals to customers in stages. A newly allowlisted destination address cannot be used for 24 hours.

Before sending crypto, customers must add the destination wallet address to an allowlist, a list of addresses approved for use. After the address is added, customers must wait 24 hours before sending crypto. The same allowlisting and wait apply to transfers between Schwab Crypto accounts.

Customers can also receive supported cryptocurrencies from external wallets. Schwab Crypto requires approval and an eligible Schwab brokerage account. Residents of New York, Louisiana, U.S. territories and jurisdictions outside the United States are ineligible. Transfer access is being enabled in stages, and customers will receive an email when their accounts are ready. The address wait adds a practical step to the phased transfer rollout.

Schwab Crypto offers direct trading in Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH), while transfers cover supported cryptocurrencies. Schwab began rolling out direct crypto trading in May 2026. Digital assets held through Schwab Crypto are not bank deposits, are not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) and are not protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corp. (SIPC).
