The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation plans to open commercial access in October to a tokenization service covering about $30 trillion in assets held through its DTC central securities depository, a quarter of the assets in its custody.

At launch, the service will operate on Canton and Besu, both closed platforms, and support 25 liquid instruments. The initial group includes U.S. Treasurys, major exchange-traded funds and Russell 1000 stocks.

Eligible participants will be able to turn traditional securities into tokens through a user interface or API between 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET (06:00–22:00 UTC during daylight saving time; 07:00–23:00 UTC during standard time). Institutions can move assets between wallets at any time.

Stellar (XLM) remains on the schedule for integration in the first half of 2027 under the SEP-41 standard, alongside Circle’s Arc solution. A closed pilot in July included more than 30 Wall Street institutions. The plan builds on DTCC’s earlier tokenization launch timeline, which placed the service’s debut in the fourth quarter of 2026.
