Anthropic, Nscale Discuss Second $45 Billion Compute Deal in West Virginia
Four existing Monarch contracts allow for up to about $44.6 billion in payments to Nscale, subject to delivery and service requirements.

Anthropic and Nscale are discussing a second computing agreement worth about $45 billion at the Monarch campus in West Virginia, potentially expanding a relationship already backed by major service contracts.
The proposed deal would involve another facility at the campus. Talks are ongoing, and the amount and other terms could change.
The proposal is separate from four existing agreements for computing capacity at Monarch. Signed Aug. 25, those contracts provide for payments to Nscale of up to about $44.6 billion if the company meets delivery and service requirements. That figure is a conditional maximum, not payments already made.
The existing contracts cover dedicated NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 systems scheduled for delivery in four tranches. They carry multiyear service terms.
Nscale is preparing for a U.S. initial public offering. As of its Sept. 18 prospectus, the company had not obtained binding financing commitments required to perform the existing Anthropic agreements.
