BitGo Added Canton Coin Trading After Broadening Token Custody
The services were announced between October 2025 and March 2026. Go Network settlement for Canton Coin was described as offchain.

BitGo built out Canton services between October 2025 and March 2026, adding token custody, Canton Coin (CC) trading and offchain settlement so institutions could use those services through one provider.
On Oct. 29, 2025, BitGo launched qualified custody for CC, Canton’s native coin. Insurance against theft or loss for CC in qualified custody had a stated ceiling of $250 million. That figure was a coverage ceiling, rather than a guarantee for each client.
On March 25, 2026, BitGo extended custody to assets using Canton’s CIP-56 token standard. The named assets included USDCx and cBTC, a token representing Bitcoin (BTC) on Canton. USDC deposited through Circle’s xReserve backs USDCx. Deposits of USDC into xReserve on Ethereum lead a decentralized protocol to create USDCx on Canton.
Canton is a public network designed for financial applications whose participants need control over access to transaction information. Applications can set their own access rules while supporting activity across the network. The March custody expansion gave BitGo clients a way to hold named CIP-56 assets alongside CC.
“CIP-56 is the standard that enables interoperability across the Canton ecosystem,” said Melvis Langyintuo, executive director and head of the Canton Foundation.
Five days after the token custody announcement, BitGo added electronic trading for CC. The March 30 announcement also described settlement between counterparties through its Go Network around the clock. That settlement takes place offchain, separate from transactions settled on Canton.
The two March announcements covered different services and assets. BitGo named USDCx and cBTC in its custody expansion, while its electronic trading announcement specified CC. Go Network was the settlement service described for CC counterparties.
Other providers had announced Canton custody services. Zodia Custody announced CC custody on July 29, 2025, ahead of BitGo’s launch. In October 2026, Ripple Custody added support for Canton assets, including CC and eligible CIP-56 tokens, through its institutional platform.
