Vantage Bank and Rio Bank used tokenized deposits to make a loan-participation payment through Hazel Network, pairing the transfer of principal and interest with automatic updates to loan balances and payment notices.

The buying institution’s digital wallet received the funds in less than three minutes. Loan records updated alongside the transfer.

Tokenized deposits are digital records of funds held at commercial banks. The bank that issues a deposit remains liable for it, linking the digital record to money on the bank’s balance sheet.
