Banco Santander’s attributable profit fell 2.4% quarter over quarter to €3.432 billion in Q3 2026, while underlying profit increased, giving two different readings of the bank’s latest results.

Attributable profit was down from €3.518 billion in Q2. Underlying profit rose to €3.848 billion from €3.768 billion over the same period. Intangible asset impairments and integration costs weighed on the quarter’s results. Earnings per share were €0.23.

The sequential comparison is between Q3 and Q2, not a year-over-year measure. Attributable profit reflects earnings assigned to shareholders, while underlying profit is a separate measure presented in the results. The measures moved in opposite directions during the quarter.

Banco Santander published its Q3 results Wednesday, Oct. 28.
