Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said roughly half of Ripple USD (RLUSD) is on the XRP Ledger, where the stablecoin’s share grew faster than on Ethereum over the past year.

Garlinghouse said the rest of RLUSD is on Ethereum. He described RLUSD and XRP as complementary, saying the stablecoin adds liquidity to the ledger. “RLUSD and having a stablecoin on the XRP Ledger is good for the XRP Ledger because we have liquidity on-chain,” he said.

Ripple’s revenue rose to $900 million from $300 million in one year, its best year on record. Garlinghouse also described XRP as suited to use cases involving many trillions of dollars, citing the speed and scalability of its layer-one blockchain.

The remarks add detail to Garlinghouse’s Swell statement that Ripple would continue supporting XRP, covered in an earlier story about Ripple’s commitment to XRP.
