Alchemy Pay announced Nov. 3 that its fiat-to-crypto service is integrated into Walt, a digital-asset app that runs inside Telegram. The announcement describes a way for users to buy supported assets with traditional currency through Walt; it does not establish that the route first became available on Nov. 3.

Walt’s bank-card purchase flow sends users to a payment page operated by Alchemy Pay or Mercuryo. Buyers choose an asset and payment currency in the app before completing the transaction with a provider. Which providers and payment methods appear depends on the user’s location and the terms of the transaction.

Walt lists 14 assets available to buy through payment providers. Its support list separately includes 10 assets that can be sold for funds sent to a bank card. Those are Walt-wide lists and do not specify which provider handles each asset, so the card-sale options should not be read as an Alchemy Pay off-ramp.

Alchemy Pay says its broader network supports more than 50 fiat currencies and more than 300 payment channels, including Visa, Mastercard, mobile wallets and local bank transfers. Those network figures describe Alchemy Pay’s overall services; they do not mean every currency or payment method is available through Walt.

Fiat purchases are processed by third-party payment providers, which set their own fees and limits. Walt requires users to complete verification in the app, and a provider may require additional checks before processing a purchase.

Built by The Open Platform, Walt was renamed from Wallet in Telegram in September.
