ByteDance's Seedance Gets Half Its Revenue From Overseas Customers
Overseas revenue has risen nearly fivefold in six months, while Tencent ranks among the model's three largest customers in China.

ByteDance's Seedance AI video model now earns half its revenue outside China, putting international customers on equal footing with domestic ones in the product's revenue mix.
Overseas revenue has increased nearly fivefold in the past six months. The 50% share refers specifically to Seedance's revenue.
The international business has developed amid copyright scrutiny from the U.S. film industry. The Motion Picture Association (MPA) sent ByteDance a cease-and-desist letter in February alleging copyright infringement involving Seedance 2.0 and Seedream 5.0 Lite. The MPA and ByteDance announced an Aug. 17 memorandum of understanding on intellectual property safeguards. In that announcement, the MPA recognized progress in Seedance's intellectual property protections.
China remains a major customer market. Tencent ranks among Seedance's top three customers there by AI model use and revenue contribution, despite operating its own video model. Customers in manufacturing, automotive, education and health care account for more than one-quarter of Seedance's customer base.
ByteDance previously opened Seedance 2.5 4K to 20 film studios and directors worldwide. The company hopes to apply its video-generation capabilities to embodied AI, manufacturing simulations and industrial training.
