SpaceX shares have climbed about 58% from an early-August low, putting fresh focus on Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence ambitions as the company’s stock continues recovering.
The shares rose almost 8%, reaching their highest close since mid-June. SpaceX’s record closing price is $201.80, set June 16, four days after the company went public.
Musk has said SpaceX could reach AI “pole position” in about six months if it maintains its current pace of improvement. The forecast describes a potential leadership position rather than a completed industry ranking or benchmark.
Musk has also compared the age of SpaceX’s AI work with efforts at Anthropic and OpenAI. He said SpaceX’s AI efforts are three years old, compared with six years for Anthropic and 10 years for OpenAI.
