Bitcoin (BTC) remained below $84,000 Wednesday after breaking through the level in two waves, signaling broader weakness across the cryptocurrency market.

The first decline came during Asia trading, followed by a second move at the U.S. open. Bitcoin has not reclaimed $84,000 since the break.

Only nine of the 125 largest tokens by market value were rising, leaving most major crypto assets lower. The breadth of the decline points to weakness extending beyond Bitcoin rather than being limited to one asset.

The $84,000 area had been identified as the market’s largest cost-basis cluster, a level where a large amount of Bitcoin was acquired. Bitcoin's break below the level leaves the cost-basis cluster above the current market price.
