Crypto Market Cap Falls 5.08% as Bitcoin Drops 1.98% Thursday
Bitcoin traded at $81,723 at 5:03 p.m. ET as 24-hour crypto liquidations reached $800.8 million, mostly from long positions.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell 1.98% to $81,723 by 5:03 p.m. ET (21:03 UTC) Thursday as total crypto market capitalization dropped 5.08% to $2.78 trillion, extending losses across major digital assets.
Trading volume reached $123.59 billion over the same 24-hour period. Bitcoin represented 59.1% of the market, while Ether (ETH) accounted for 10.9%.
Ether declined 3.91% to $2,472. XRP fell 3.06% to $1.38, and BNB dropped 4.75% to $734.06. Solana (SOL) lost 5.50% to $109.71, while Dogecoin (DOGE) declined 5.18% to $0.0842.
Among the top 39 cryptocurrencies, Ondo (ONDO) was the strongest performer, rising 3.18%. NEAR Protocol (NEAR) posted the largest decline, falling 15.35%.
Derivatives markets recorded $800.8 million in liquidations across Binance, Bybit and OKX. Long positions made up $717.2 million of the total, compared with $83.6 million from short positions.
The latest decline follows an earlier drop in crypto market capitalization, when Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies also moved lower.
