Bitcoin (BTC) was quoted at $83,170.66 on Oct. 11, with mixed technical signals and net-long derivatives positioning leaving the market’s near-term direction unresolved.

The snapshot placed Bitcoin below its seven-day simple moving average of $83,598.23, its 20-day average of $84,233.90 and its 12-period exponential moving average of $83,590.94. Bitcoin remained above its 50-day and 200-day moving averages at $80,952.36 and $72,014.68, respectively.

The 24-hour trading range was $82,640 to $83,210.01. The MACD histogram was 0.0000, with the MACD and signal lines both at 880.1655. That reading means the two lines were equal at the measured point but does not establish the direction of the next move. The setup resembles an earlier report on a zero MACD histogram and derivatives positioning.

Other indicators were mixed. The Bollinger Bands ranged from $81,882.47 to $86,585.33, while the 14-period relative strength index was 52.41 and the average true range was $1,963.28. Resistance was identified at $83,373.78 and $83,576.90, with support at $82,803.77 and $82,436.88.

Perpetual-futures accounts were 59.2% long and 40.8% short at 3 a.m. ET (07:00 UTC), producing a long-to-short ratio of 1.4534. Top-trader accounts were 60.5% long and 39.5% short at 2 a.m. ET (06:00 UTC), a ratio of 1.5297.

The one-hour taker buy/sell ratio was 0.7296, based on 739 units of buying volume versus 1,013 units of selling volume. Open interest stood at 92,692.04 contracts, valued at $7.64 billion, after declining 0.50% over 24 hours. The eight-hour funding rate was -0.0027%.

Forecasts pointed to different levels. One October outlook listed $87,000 as a base case, $92,000 as a bullish scenario and $83,503 as weekly support. Juan M. Villaverde wrote, “I expect Bitcoin to dip to about $80,000 within the next 10 to 20 days at most, with 15 days the most likely duration.”
