Crypto Market Cap Falls 3.55% to $2.82 Trillion as Bitcoin Gains
Bitcoin rose to $83,236 in early U.S. trading, while Ether, XRP, BNB, Solana and Dogecoin declined. Liquidations across three major exchanges reached $502.3 million.

Bitcoin gained while most major cryptocurrencies declined Tuesday, while total crypto market capitalization fell 3.55% to $2.82 trillion and leveraged-position liquidations totaled $502.3 million.
At 9:04 a.m. ET (13:04 UTC) Oct. 13, Bitcoin (BTC) traded at $83,236, up 0.62% over 24 hours. Crypto market trading volume reached $94.96 billion during the period.
Ether (ETH) fell 1.20% to $2,501, while XRP declined 2.09% to $1.36. BNB dropped 1.06% to $740.08, Solana (SOL) lost 3.65% to $106.37, and Dogecoin (DOGE) slipped 2.51% to $0.0840.
Bitcoin accounted for 59.3% of the total crypto market, compared with Ether’s 10.8% share. Among the top 38 crypto assets, Bitcoin was the strongest performer, while Pump.fun (PUMP) was the weakest after falling 11.09%.
The market’s move extended a recent pattern in which Bitcoin edged higher while the broader crypto market declined. Tuesday’s decline reflected losses across most major assets despite Bitcoin’s modest gain.
Liquidations across Binance, Bybit and OKX totaled $502.3 million over the 24-hour period. Long positions accounted for $410.5 million, while short positions represented $91.8 million.
The larger share of long liquidations came as several major tokens fell while Bitcoin posted a small gain. The figures left the broader market lower even as Bitcoin outperformed the other listed major assets.
