Bending Spoons S.p.A. (Nasdaq: BSP) shares climbed 41.2% to $53.46 on Oct. 14 after Berkshire Hathaway agreed to buy 10 million newly issued shares for $330 million.

The stock gained $15.60 from its previous close of $37.86. It reached $58.56 during the session and fell as low as $49.21. At 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC), the closing price was $5.10 below the session high and 62% above Berkshire’s planned $33 per-share price.

The binding placement is expected to raise about $330 million before expenses. Bending Spoons expects it to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Berkshire’s ownership is expected to reach 4% after the transaction closes.

Berkshire had invested $600 million in Bending Spoons’ July 2026 initial public offering. The planned investment in Bending Spoons adds to that earlier purchase. The company plans to use the placement proceeds for general corporate purposes and acquisitions.

Acquisitions are central to Bending Spoons’ business model: it buys digital companies, changes their operations and reinvests in further deals. For the quarter ended June 30, revenue was $704.155 million, up 126% from a year earlier, while organic revenue growth was 3%. Acquisitions drove most of the revenue increase. At quarter-end, net debt stood at $4.09 billion and the leverage ratio was 2.4 times.

The placement remains pending, with closing expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
