Saudi Coalition Reports 20 Houthi Attacks on Riyadh Airport
Contracts on a possible Saudi airspace closure stood at 5.5% for Nov. 1 and 16.5% for Jan. 1, 2027.

The Saudi-led coalition said Houthi forces attempted attacks on multiple Saudi facilities, including airports and oil infrastructure, as 20 attacks targeted Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport this month. The escalation raises aviation-security concerns and the possibility of a Saudi airspace closure.
The escalation has resulted in multiple casualties and injuries. Attacks on oil sites add an energy-security dimension, while airport targeting puts aviation security in focus.
Prediction-market contracts put the chance of a Saudi airspace closure at 5.5% for Nov. 1, 2026, and 16.5% for Jan. 1, 2027. The nearer contract showed little movement, while the longer-dated contract reflected a higher probability. Those prices indicate expectations around a possible closure; they do not establish a Saudi government plan.
The conflict pits the Saudi-backed Yemeni government against the Iran-aligned Houthis, and the latest attacks further heighten regional tensions. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and Saudi Air Navigation Services (SANS) would be central to any closure decision; a notice to airmen (NOTAM) could signal a formal change.
