An Oct. 16 reading put XRP near $1.34, but two sets of moving-average figures differ sharply on how close the token is to a bearish death cross.

One chart reading places the 50-day average near $1.39 and the 200-day near $1.38, a gap of about $0.01. A daily-close calculation puts them at $1.42 and $1.28, respectively, a $0.14 difference. Both readings keep the 50-day average above the 200-day.

In the daily-close calculation, the 50-day average last crossed above the 200-day on Sept. 22; XRP closed that day at $1.57. A death cross occurs when the 50-day average falls below the 200-day. Because moving averages reflect past prices, such a crossover can confirm an earlier move rather than predict a new one.

The Oct. 16 daily candle is scheduled to close at 7:59:59 p.m. ET (23:59:59 UTC). Earlier coverage of XRP’s consolidation and support levels put the token near $1.50 and support near $1.45 on Oct. 6.
