Bitcoin (BTC) options expiring Oct. 30 had a $78,000 maximum-pain level in an Oct. 22 snapshot, while Binance’s largest recorded bid block was near $80,000, and neither reading confirms spot support.

Deribit’s BTC index was $80,850.63 at 10:36:10 p.m. ET Oct. 23 (02:36:10 UTC Oct. 24). In the earlier snapshot, taken at 8:49 p.m. ET Oct. 22 (00:49 UTC Oct. 23), BTC spot was $81,424. The readings come from different times and describe separate parts of the market.

The Oct. 30 expiry represented $11.1 billion, or 34.6% of Deribit’s Bitcoin options open interest. Its put/call open-interest ratio was 0.56. The contracts are scheduled to settle at 4 a.m. ET Oct. 30 (08:00 UTC).

Maximum pain is calculated from open options positions. It identifies the price at which option holders, considered collectively, would face the largest losses at expiry. The $78,000 level describes options positioning; it does not forecast where Bitcoin will trade or show that spot buyers are waiting at that price.

Spot-order-book readings through Oct. 20 placed Binance’s largest bid block near $80,000. Most of the block was taken out during the Oct. 15 decline. Bids had rebuilt by Oct. 20, but remained below their earlier peak. The same readings placed a liquidation cluster near $79,600, the True Market Mean near $77,600 and the largest ask block between $86,500 and $87,500.

The options level and the Binance bid block measure different things, and the observations cover different time windows. Visible orders can be filled or canceled, so bid depth alone does not guarantee buyers will appear at a given price. Neither signal establishes a firm floor between $78,000 and $80,000.

The nearby bid area and $77,600 True Market Mean were also discussed in an Oct. 22 market analysis. The options are scheduled to settle at 4 a.m. ET Oct. 30.
