Modeled Oracle Position Lost 49.5% in a Year Despite Reinvested Dividends
Reinvesting four $0.50 payments lifted a hypothetical 100-share holding to about 101.41 shares, but its ending value was about $16 below the cash-dividend scenario.

A modeled 100-share investment in Oracle fell to about $13,251 by Oct. 30, 2026, from $26,261 a year earlier, even after four dividends were reinvested.
The starting value reflects 100 shares at the Oct. 31, 2025, close of $262.61. Oracle closed at $130.67 on Oct. 30, 2026, putting the original shares at $13,067 before dividends. At those endpoints, the modeled position lost about $13,010, or 49.54%, after reinvestment.
Oracle declared four quarterly dividends of $0.50 per share, payable Jan. 23, April 24, July 24 and Oct. 23, 2026. The model applies each payment to the shares held just before it, then divides the payment by Oracle’s closing price that day: $177.16, $173.28, $114.99 and $126.16, respectively. It assumes fractional shares and increases the holding to about 101.41 shares.
At the final $130.67 close, that larger share count produced an ending value of about $13,251. The alternative scenario keeps the starting 100 shares unchanged and adds each $0.50 distribution in cash. Those payments total $200, bringing the model’s final value to $13,267 before taxes, fees or interest, about $16 above the reinvested result.
The extra shares do not automatically mean a higher ending value: the dividend-funded shares are bought at different prices and then valued at the final $130.67 price. In the cash scenario, the original 100 shares remain unchanged and the four payments stay as dollars.
The comparison uses 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC) closes on Oct. 31, 2025, and Oct. 30, 2026, along with the closing prices on the four dividend dates. It is a hypothetical calculation rather than an account-level return. Actual reinvestment can differ with execution prices, timing and a brokerage’s fractional-share rules. Taxes and fees are excluded.
Oracle’s Oct. 23 distribution was also detailed in earlier coverage of its Oct. 23 dividend payment.
Oracle’s fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter cloud infrastructure revenue was $5.8 billion, up 93% year over year, and its remaining performance obligations were $638 billion, up 363%. Free cash flow for fiscal 2026 was negative $23.7 billion; Oracle tied that figure to investment supporting cloud infrastructure growth.
