Hecht Says Market Volatility May Stay Elevated Beyond U.S. Midterms

In July, Hecht tied possible volatility to uncertainty over the vote; his Nov. 3 forecast applied regardless of the result.

Analyst Andrew Hecht said on Nov. 3 that market volatility across asset classes, including cryptocurrencies, may remain elevated for weeks or months regardless of the U.S. midterm outcome, extending his view beyond uncertainty over the vote.

In July, Hecht linked possible increases in volatility across markets, including crypto, to uncertainty about the election result. His Nov. 3 forecast described elevated volatility as possible regardless of that outcome.

An Oct. 26 Bitcoin options snapshot showed annualized implied volatility of 37.8% for the seven-to-14-day window, 35% for 14-to-30 days and 37.7% for 30-to-60 days. The observation was made at 5 a.m. ET. Those readings cover Bitcoin over specific periods and predate Hecht’s latest remarks; they do not directly measure his broad forecast across asset classes and weeks or months.

Volatility describes the scale of price swings, not their direction. The options figures do not establish that the midterms caused implied volatility to change.
