Mad Money host Jim Cramer said AI data center construction may slow but is unlikely to stop as a technology sell-off pushed the Nasdaq Composite into correction territory Thursday.

The index fell 4.2% on Nov. 5, leaving it more than 10% below its record high from October. The S&P 500 declined 2.9%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 2.2%, giving back more than half of Wednesday’s gains. Health care, consumer staples and utilities held up better than the broader market.

During a 10:20 a.m. ET Morning Meeting livestream, Cramer said construction would probably slow, but “it’s certainly not going to go away.” Investors were concerned that financing challenges and greater political scrutiny could weigh on the data center buildout. Meta executive Dina Powell McCormick also warned that building new data centers would become harder.

The retreat spread from semiconductor shares to cybersecurity stocks, including CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks. Strong earnings from AMD and Qnity did little to shield shares from the sell-off.

Cramer said the market weakness reinforced the decision by Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust to reduce its AI exposure by exiting Broadcom, Corning and Arm. The trust kept positions in Micron and Qnity to maintain exposure to the theme’s long-term growth potential.

Cramer has previously warned that losses in a single market theme can expose concentrated portfolios, a concern discussed in an earlier look at AI sell-off risks.
