Kalshi Co-Founder Says Stock Perps Top $300 Million in Debut Volume
Kalshi launched the contracts on Nov. 5, covering more than 50 stocks traded on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq.

Kalshi co-founder and chief operating officer Luana Lopes Lara said the company's stock perpetual futures topped $300 million in trading volume within hours of launching Thursday, Nov. 5.
The contracts let traders take positions on stock-price moves without owning shares, and they have no expiration date. Kalshi offers contracts tied to more than 50 stocks traded on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, including Palantir, Meta and McDonald's.
The launch came two days after Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael Selig said Tuesday, Nov. 3, that single-equity perpetual futures could trade on CFTC-registered exchanges. Under CFTC rules, the contracts were deemed approved as security futures, a category created by Congress in 2000 and overseen by both the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Kalshi's derivatives lineup also includes a U.S. 500 perpetual contract.
