Nasdaq Rises 1.09%, but U.S. Indexes End Week Lower
The Nasdaq Composite fell 3.4% for the week through Nov. 6, the steepest decline among the three major U.S. stock indexes.
The Nasdaq Composite ended Friday, Nov. 6, up 1.09%, but that gain did not reverse its 3.4% weekly decline, leaving all three major U.S. stock indexes lower for the week.
The Nasdaq added 264.43 points to close at 24,579.42 at 4 p.m. ET (9 p.m. UTC). Its closing gain was smaller than an earlier intraday reading of 2.08% from the same session.
The S&P 500 rose 0.3% Friday to 7,376.86, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.5% to 51,285.73. For the week through Nov. 6, the S&P 500 lost 2.7% and the Dow declined 0.9%.
The Nasdaq’s 3.4% weekly drop was the largest of the three indexes. Friday’s advance narrowed its loss but was not enough to turn its weekly performance positive.
