BOJ Plans More Rate Hikes as Yen, AI and Middle East Shape Timing
The policy rate reached 1.25% in September. The BOJ's Oct. 29-30 meeting is scheduled to include updated growth and inflation forecasts.

The Bank of Japan (BOJ) kept further rate increases in view in September, a policy path relevant to yen-funded trades across global markets, including crypto.
The bank said it would continue raising rates if its outlook for economic activity and prices is realized. It listed exchange-rate movements, AI-related demand and Middle East conditions as factors in setting the timing and pace of increases.
The BOJ raised its policy rate to 1.25% in September, the highest in 31 years.
The yen carry trade uses low-cost yen borrowing to finance investments with higher returns. That mechanism links Japanese interest rates to global markets, including crypto.
The BOJ is scheduled to meet next on Oct. 29-30 and release updated growth and inflation forecasts.
