South Korea will decide how to handle its planned crypto tax after gathering industry and National Assembly views, as calls for a fourth delay rise ahead of its 2027 start.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance and Economy Minister Lee Hyung-il said the government would consider those views before making a decision. The tax has been delayed three times and is currently scheduled for 2027.

On Oct. 20, the government met with leaders of the country's five largest crypto exchanges to hear their views on another postponement, following the earlier announcement of the meeting.

During a parliamentary audit, the National Tax Service said it is difficult to obtain complete data on overseas and decentralized trading.
