Bybit has applied to the Central Bank of Brazil for authorization to operate as a virtual asset service provider, adding a formal licensing step as it builds its local presence.

The company has a local entity in Brazil. Its local leadership team covers legal, compliance and finance and is based in São Paulo.

After securing six licenses in 2026, Bybit outlined plans for further approvals, including MiFID-related licenses in the European Union and additional approvals in Brazil, Turkey and Hong Kong.

Crypto businesses must obtain a license from the Central Bank of Brazil to operate in the country, a requirement relevant to Bybit's application to provide virtual asset services.
