The Commodity Markets Council (CMC) urged the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to block Kalshi’s proposed West Texas Intermediate (WTI) perpetual futures contract, saying it could threaten market integrity.

CMC represents CME Group and other derivatives exchanges and traders. The group also called for common standards for such products and coordination with foreign regulators to stop U.S. traders from using virtual private networks (VPNs) to get around geographic restrictions on offshore platforms.

Kalshi introduced WTI futures earlier this month that trade five days a week and have 10-year terms. On Tuesday, Oct. 20, it applied to list a version with no expiration date. TokenPost previously covered Kalshi’s WTI crude-oil perpetual futures proposal.
