Moody’s maintained France’s sovereign credit rating at Aa3 on Oct. 23 and kept the outlook negative. The decision leaves the rating at the same level as the government pursues a 2027 finance bill intended to continue restoring public finances.

French Finance Minister Roland Lescure called for the budget to be adopted by year-end and to reduce the deficit to 5%. He described the rating decision as recognition of France’s economic strength and the government’s budget credibility.

“This decision recognizes the strength of our economy and the credibility of the budget presented by the government in the 2027 finance bill,” Lescure said.

The decision followed a review date covered in TokenPost’s earlier market preview.
