President Javier Milei accused La Nación Group of using the LIBRA controversy to press Argentina’s government over the group’s tax obligations after a judge closed the criminal probe.

In a post on X, Milei portrayed the episode as a political and media campaign that he said sought to weaken the presidency. Separately, he said some opposition factions wanted his government removed so they could regain their privileges.

Milei said he had suffered reputational harm for one year, eight months and nine days, blaming lies and defamation intended to stain his name and honor. He also accused paid journalists of spreading falsehoods and called for accountability.

The investigation into Milei and his sister over LIBRA examined possible fraud tied to the token’s issuance and their roles. Milei promoted the token in February 2025. Its price climbed briefly, then dropped sharply.
