Trevor Milton’s attorneys voluntarily dismissed his Utah federal lawsuit against an FBI agent and Nikola whistleblower Friday, Oct. 30, 17 days after filing it, leaving the allegations unresolved.

The Oct. 13 complaint alleged Essick and Lackey conspired to intimidate a potential defense witness before Milton’s fraud trial. It accused Essick of controlling two anonymous X accounts, @CntrlScrut1nizr and @lfxs1212, that criticized Milton and Nikola, discussed bets against Nikola stock and allegedly harassed former Nikola executive Jason Roycht. Milton said the online activity contributed to Roycht’s decision not to meet with his defense lawyers.

The person who demonstrated control of both accounts denied knowing Essick or having FBI ties. The dismissal was without prejudice, leaving open the possibility of refiling. No court ruled on the merits.
