Tiff Macklem, governor of the Bank of Canada, says Prime Minister Mark Carney’s fiscal plans are not currently making it harder for the central bank to control inflation as Ottawa increases spending to support growth.

The Bank of Canada has said further increases may be needed if inflationary pressures persist.

The next Dec. 9 rate decision will follow inflation and employment data that may influence the bank’s policy outlook.
