Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck signed a royal decree granting the Gelephu Central Bank authority over monetary policy and reserve management.

Decisions on reserve composition, size and management will require policies addressing risk, custody, liquidity and accountability.

The decree leaves the Royal Monetary Authority’s status as Bhutan’s national central bank unchanged.
