Solana Planned Transaction V1 Launch to Expand Maximum Size
The planned upgrade would raise the maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes, while other network changes target lower rent and faster finality.

Solana planned to launch Transaction V1 on Sept. 9, a change that would more than triple the network’s maximum transaction size and create additional capacity for complex transactions.
The planned upgrade would raise the limit for a single transaction from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. The additional space is intended to support zero-knowledge proofs, multisignature transactions and batched transactions.
Solana also has a five-stage plan to reduce rent costs, with a final target of 90%. Rent is a cost associated with storing data on the network.
Slot times are planned to fall in stages from 400 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds, with each stage reducing the interval by 50 milliseconds. Shorter slot times would reduce the time between network updates.
The network also plans to introduce Alpenglow, its next-generation consensus protocol, with Agave 4.3 in October. Alpenglow targets final confirmation in about 150 milliseconds. The plan follows Solana’s earlier Alpenglow activation schedule, which set the same finality target.
Solana’s community plans to meet in November during the Scale or Die event.
