XRP Ledger Targets Oct. 9 for Batch Upgrade With Eight-Transaction Limit

The XRP Ledger is targeting Oct. 9 to activate a feature that could bundle up to eight transactions, while a separate security update would require some server operators to upgrade their software to stay synchronized.

BatchV1_1 would let an account submit as many as eight transactions in one batch. The transactions can be configured to succeed or fail together, allowing, for example, a payment and an asset transfer to be completed in the same operation. Activation would add an option for developers; applications and users would still need to adopt it.

As of Oct. 3, 30 of the XRP Ledger’s 35 trusted validators supported BatchV1_1. The separate amendment, fixBatchV1_2, had support from 34 validators. The Oct. 9 projection for BatchV1_1 remains conditional on validator support staying above the required threshold through the voting period.

If fixBatchV1_2 activates, servers running software earlier than version 3.4.1 will be unable to stay synchronized with the ledger. The change does not require ordinary XRP holders to take action.

BatchV1_1 replaces an earlier implementation that was disabled after a critical bug was found. Its projected activation date followed a reset of the voting period after validator support fell below the threshold. The earlier coverage details the vote reset and timing.
