Hermes Agent launched in February 2026 under the MIT License. More than 24 million copies have been cloned or downloaded since its launch.
It preserves context between sessions, lets users build reusable skills and can run locally or connect to hosted services.
The Microsoft Store release follows the company’s Oct. 7 announcement of $90 million in financing to expand Hermes Agent into a business product. The planned enterprise offering includes private deployment, single sign-on, auditing, workspace controls, shared team skills, cost visibility and service-level agreements.
Nous Research plans to keep the core system open source while adding infrastructure for business users.
