Unichain Plans Optimism-Managed Operations in October Migration
The staged move would place production infrastructure under OP Enterprise while preserving Unichain’s governance, contracts, applications and balances.

Unichain plans to move its production operations to Optimism’s OP Enterprise service in October, placing core infrastructure under managed operations while preserving the network’s governance and applications.
The testnet migration is planned for Oct. 13, 2026, followed by a mainnet migration scheduled for Oct. 29, 2026. The migration is planned, and completion has not been confirmed.
Optimism would operate Unichain’s production sequencers, remote procedure call infrastructure, monitoring and incident response. Unichain would retain its chain ID, contracts, balances, applications and Uniswap v2, v3 and v4 deployments.
“From the operator side, Optimism runs the production stack,” Uniswap Labs said.
The arrangement would extend a managed-operations model adopted by Soneium and planned for Ink. Under OP Enterprise’s Fully Managed tier, OP Labs operates the sequencer, batcher, proposer and other core infrastructure while each partner retains its chain and product roadmap.
Soneium adopted the Fully Managed tier on Sept. 30, 2026. The service covers deployment, upgrades, sequencer operations, node infrastructure, monitoring and incident response. Ink’s planned transition would include sequencers, monitoring, incident response, RPC infrastructure and its block explorer.
The planned migration follows earlier coverage of Unichain’s Oct. 13 testnet move.
The operational shift would not remove Ethereum-based fallback mechanisms. Users can force transactions into Unichain, Ink and Soneium through Ethereum if a sequencer fails, although the process can take up to 12 hours.
Unichain withdrawals retain a seven-day proof-maturity period, while state-root settlement requires at least three and a half days. Anyone can propose state roots for Unichain. Soneium instead uses whitelisted proposers, and a failure of those proposers would freeze withdrawals.
Unichain will remain a Stage 1 rollup with permissionless fault proofs. OP Enterprise’s Fully Managed tier carries a 99.9% contractual uptime service-level agreement. Its Mission Critical add-on raises that target to 99.95% and includes a 15-minute initial response target for the most serious incidents.
The next scheduled step is Unichain’s testnet migration on Oct. 13, 2026, ahead of the planned mainnet move on Oct. 29.
