Mysten Labs has established an AI business unit for agent-trust products and AI-native infrastructure, bringing engineering, product development and other functions into a group intended to operate with a high degree of independence.

The unit is intended to reduce reliance on outside entities. Mysten Labs co-founder Evan Cheng will lead it while remaining chief technology officer. Mysten Labs President Kevin Boon accepted the CEO position after Cheng asked him to step in; Boon’s appointment was announced Oct. 16.

Separately, Mysten Labs is developing Verifiable Agent Arbiter with Google Cloud. The project is designed to record what an AI agent was authorized to do and what it did, then allow those actions to be checked against its authority. Customer-controlled Google Cloud Storage holds the detailed logs; Walrus stores cryptographic proofs, and Sui coordinates verification.
