TRON founder Justin Sun said AI advances and quantum-computing risks have made him more bearish on Bitcoin (BTC), arguing that the crypto industry and Bitcoin exchange-traded fund investors have not fully priced in those risks.

In an interview released Oct. 16, Sun suggested advances in AI mathematics might allow classical computers to compromise unprotected early wallets or private keys before a breakthrough in quantum computing.

That possibility is distinct from the longer-term concern that sufficiently powerful quantum computers could undermine the elliptic-curve cryptography used by Bitcoin and Ethereum. Post-quantum cryptography is designed to protect blockchain accounts against that potential threat.

Sun has said TRON has deployed post-quantum cryptography on testnet. The network has not announced a date for bringing it to mainnet. Ethereum developers are also preparing changes intended to resist future quantum attacks.
